In late 2020, amidst the UK's pandemic-induced unemployment crisis, William, a dynamic entrepreneur from Manchester, recognized an opportunity in the government's skills training landscape. Traditional training providers were achieving job placement rates below 30%, despite significant government funding. With his background in online marketing and lead generation, William envisioned Skills2Work - a platform that would revolutionize how unemployed individuals accessed and completed government-funded training.

Engineering the Digital Bridge

As the technical consultant for the project, I collaborated with William to tackle a deceptively simple challenge: creating an efficient system to connect unemployed individuals with government-funded training that led to real jobs. The innovation came through developing what we called an "engagement engine" – a sophisticated system to track, adapt, and optimize every step of the learner's journey.

Our research showed that 67% of the target audience primarily accessed the internet through smartphones.
